Bird Walk 15 January 2024

I was away for the last birdwalk, so Angela took over – thanks!

Going through the bird lists which she sent me suggests a significant drop in the number of species seen. Typically we see over 30 species and on the January walk we only encountered 18. This may be due to a number of factors, including the summer start at 07:00 when it was already starting to heat up, to just bad luck.

Also we may have overlooked some of the obvious residents such as grey headed sparrows, the various doves, cape robins etc.

But it also may be the beginning of the dry hot season where birds have moved off to where food and comfort is┬ámore┬áplentiful. Let’s see what we can find next month!

Grahame
